How Does Deals Rummy Work?

Deals Rummy is played with a single deck of 52 cards on a two-player table. Up to 2 to 6 players can participate in a game of Deals Rummy. All players start with a fixed number of chips, and everyone receives the same number of chips. Each player is dealt 13 cards by the dealer in no specific order. The first card from the pack is placed face-up to create the open deck. The remaining cards are placed face-down to form the closed deck. Jokers are used in sequences to replace any missing card that is required to complete the sequence.

How to Win a Deals Rummy Game?

To win in Deals Rummy, you need to arrange all your cards in a sequence. There must be at least one pure sequence, which is mandatory to win. The rest of the cards can be arranged in pure or impure sequences.

Are You Allowed to Drop in Deals Rummy?

Yes, you are allowed to drop in Deals Rummy, but certain rules apply. If the game has only two players, dropping is not allowed. If there are more than two players, you can drop with the following penalties:

  • First Drop: 20 point penalty.
  • Second Drop: 40 point penalty.
  • Third Drop: The player is automatically dropped from the game.

Players must drop before drawing or discarding a card.

Calculating Scores in Deals Rummy

The goal of a Deals Rummy game is to make a valid declaration by arranging all cards in correct combinations. Once a valid declaration is made, the remaining players must calculate their scores based on the cards in their hands. Here's how the scores are calculated:

  • K, Q, J, A: 10 points
  • 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10: Value equal to the number
  • Jokers: 0 points (no points)

If a player wins by making a valid declaration, the losing players must count the scores of all their remaining cards. The scoring depends on the sequences:

  • If losing players have both a pure and an impure sequence, only the unsequenced cards are counted for points.
  • If losing players do not have two sequences, all the cards in their hands are counted for points.

How is the Winner Declared?

There can only be one winner in a complete game of Deals Rummy. The winner is the player with the highest number of chips at the end of all rounds. Here's how the winner is determined:

  • Each chip is equal to 1 point.
  • The winnings per round are the total points lost by the losing players.
  • For example, if there are 4 players and Player 1 declares, the losing points for players 2, 3, and 4 are 10, 20, and 50 respectively. Player 1 receives chips worth 10 + 20 + 50 = 80 chips.
  • Players will have both positive and negative points based on the chips they win or lose.
  • The player with the highest positive score after all rounds is the winner, as they will have the most chips.

Remember, more chips equal more points. One chip equals one point, so the player with the most chips is declared the winner of the game!
